The former Hotel Vendome (now condos) at 160 Comm Ave Boston was an ultra-luxury property involved in one of Boston’s most tragic fires, which caused the death of 9 firefighters 50 years ago in 1972. A section collapsed along Dartmouth St after the fire was put out and then later rebuilt with a modernist style structure. A memorial statue is located on the Commonwealth Ave mall.
